Beans, beans, they’re good for your heart. The more you eat, the more you…well, you know. Beans truly are one of our favorite healthy foods. They’re full of fiber and protein, and when prepared properly, taste absolutely delicious. When we are trying to focus on nutrition and health, this is the dish that we bring to every get together. I know I get to still have something completely amazing, without sacrificing flavor. You don’t have to spill the beans though, everyone else will just think it’s a great appetizer without realizing it’s actually good for them.

Black Bean Options:

To make this recipe even easier, go ahead and use cans of refried black beans instead of whole beans.

Spice Level:

You can increase or decrease the heat by removing or leaving in the seeds in the jalapeño. You can also add in extra chipotle in adobo sauce to increase heat.

Pro Tip:

If your black bean dip is too thick, you can always thin it out with a bit of water or chicken broth. Be sure to slowly add in extra liquid to ensure you don’t make it too thin.

What if I don’t have an immersion blender?

No immersion blender? No problem. When ready to blend, simply transfer your ingredients to a regular blender and blend until desired consistency. Please ensure your blender has a venting lid before attempting to blend. You cannot blend hot ingredients in a non-venting lid for safety.

Serving Suggestions:

You can serve black bean dip with chips for an amazing appetizer, or simply as a side dish to a Mexican themed dinner.
