Fortnite’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife challenges launch – How to get No Ghost Back Bling

A Ghostbusters event has snuck in among the more terrifying Fortnitemares Halloween event in Fortnite. And it took us a quick minute to work out why. Other than the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie coming out in November, 2021, that is. But while mini-Pufts are all kinds of adorable (and mischievous), Ghostbusters is about, well, busting ghosts, so its supernatural nature just about fits in with the Halloween theme.

Fortnite No Ghost Back Bling

If you’ve had your fill of Cube Monster attacks for now, the Containment Specialist’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife Punchcard will provide some softer Halloween respite. Head to the Camp Cod POI on the very south of the map to speak to the Containment Specialist and pick up the first of his challenges. Once you have completed his Punchcard, the No Ghost Back Bling will be all yours to display courageously upon your avatar. It’s no Proton Pack, but hopefully it’ll still keep the ghosts at bay.

If you want the challenges to remain a surprise as you work through them, stop reading and turn back now…

Containment Specialist challenges

You will need to complete a total of five challenges before you can claim your Back Bling, but they’re all fairly straightforward. The main difficulty is the distant locations that you will need to head to, meaning it might take a few matches to get them all done.

Deploy 3 Seismographs in Misty Meadows or Catty Corner

The first challenge you’ll receive as soon as you speak to the Containment Specialist is to deploy Seismographs in either Misty Meadows or Catty Corner. You’ll need to deploy three, but there are three in each location, so you can complete this whole challenge in one location or the other.

Exterminate 3 mini-Pufts with a Pickaxe in Sludgy Swamp, Lazy Lake or Retail Row

Having deployed all three Seismographs, you’ll be asked to cries exterminate three mini-Pufts. As I’ve already mentioned, mini-Pufts are terribly cute, but also terribly terrible. And we all remember the original Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, right? So I guess it’s understandable. These naughty little fellows hang around in groups, so there are actually five in each of the assigned locations. Therefore, again, you’ll only need to get to one to complete the challenge.

Retrieve 5 Mechanical Parts by destroying cars

This one’s nice and easy… and somewhat therapeutic to boot. While it sounds like we’ve stepped back in time to the Primal season, where mechanical parts fell out of cars, it’s actually slightly different this time around. You’ll need to fully destroy a vehicle, before an interactable mechanical part will appear underneath it. Though you’ll need to do this five times, again, it’s easy to do in one location, as long as there are plenty of motors about.

Place 3 Ghostbuster signs in Holly Hedges, Dirty Docks or Pleasant Park

Placing Ghostbuster signs works in much the same way many past ‘Place Sign’ challenges have worked before it. Head to Holly Hedges, Dirty Docks or Pleasant Park, and look out for the blue, glowing sign spots. Interact with three, and you’re golden. Yet again, there are three in each location.

Deploy a ghost trap

Finally, of course, you’ll need to deploy a ghost trap. After all, what sort of Ghostbuster would you be without trapping ghosts. There are actually quite a lot of ghost trap locations across the map, and Holly Hedges, Dirty Docks and Pleasant Park all have one. So, unless you get taken out between the two challenges, you can quite easily complete challenges four and five in one go.
