Unless you’ve been hiding under an extremely heavy, firm planted rock, you will have heard of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise. With it, brings chaos, hilarity, and plain right stupidness that fans of the series have adored for many years. While there’s plenty of jokes to be had about GTA 6 getting to Skyrim levels of ports to various console generations, Rockstar has leaned into this and gone that one step further – bringing the trilogy of third-person carnage to our screens once more.
Yes, that’s right, GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas are getting remastered and released across all of today’s consoles and PC, with a boost in visuals and performance. The question on a lot of people’s lips however is that this is quite a big undertaking so when will the GTA: Trilogy release?
Well, we’ve got all the up-to-date details for you right here, hopefully providing all you need to for when you can expect to be running around as Claude, Tommy Vercetti, and Carl Johnson once again and in high definition.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Release Date
Now, while there’s been no official word from Rockstar themselves on a concrete release date apart from a vague 2021 console and PC release with the mobile versions launching in early 2022, there have been some leaks.
According to said leaks, the physical release of the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch versions of the GTA Trilogy will be December 7th, 2021. The Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions will, unfortunately, be after that in 2022. While ‘leaks’ are not exactly reliable, this information has come from the Polish publication PPE who has stated that they got their hands on these juicy details from retailers themselves.
While, in our opinion, this is quite accurate information, falling in line with the official Rockstar word, there’s still a chance that this date could shift a week forward or back. What we can say is that we’re pretty confident that the GTA Trilogy will be releasing in December in some fashion whether that’s digital-only or a sweet boxed version.
