Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is certainly something to get excited about. Running around as Tommy Vercetti once again in Vice City, driving in ridiculously fast cars, and jumping out of helicopters all in glorious HD quality, on pretty much whatever platform you want, can only be an incredibly fun experience.
However, when it comes to Rockstar and PC gaming, they aren’t exactly a match made in heaven. With games usually releasing on the platform at a later date as well as with launcher restrictions galore, it has held certain users back from delving into the rich worlds Rockstar is known for.
Despite all of this though, it appears that the GTA Trilogy is, surprisingly, coming to Steam, potentially sooner than you might expect, maybe even at the same time as on the Rockstar Games Launcher.
The reason why we think that this is the case is down to the leak of some Steam IDs relating to the individual games from said trilogy. GTAForum user Tez2 did some digging and Rockstar Games appears to have updated its own launcher server-side files and in turn, also added associated Steam IDs for each remastered title.
Now, while these Steam ID leaks are a very positive sign that the remasters are coming to the platform, what it doesn’t do is tell you when.
All we can hope is that because they have been inputted at a similar time to Rockstar’s own launcher, it’s an indication that the release windows will likely be close together. But, as with any leak, there’s no guarantee that this will be the case, and we could see the ol’ rug pull from Rockstar, leaving us Steam users waiting for the much-anticipated trilogy that bit longer.
