Scallops are an extremely versatile and flavorful seafood dish. Ready in just 10 minutes, this is one of the easiest and quickest dinners that the whole family will love. Including 4 sauce options!

Scallops are an absolute favorite in The Stay At Home Chef household. They are quick and easy to make and clean up, and they are so versatile. You can mix and match the sides to make this a meal that you won’t ever get tired of. Lemon garlic sauce, linguine, and roasted broccoli? Orange ginger glaze, rice, and a salad? The possibilities are endless. Not to mention the fact that scallops are an extremely lean protein and high in Omega 3 fatty acids. No need to tell the kids that though, just sit back and enjoy everyone happily eating their dinner, because everyone loves these scallops!

Wet vs. Dry Scallops:

You can typically find two different varieties of scallops at your grocery store. Wet scallops and dry scallops.

Wet scallops are shucked on the boat, put in a wet solution to preserve them, and typically frozen. It is hard to get a good sear on wet scallops.

Dry scallops are shucked on the boat, and put onto ice to transport. They are more translucent than wet scallops, have better flavor, and most importantly, they sear better because they don’t soak up any additional water weight. 

Cooking Scallops Tip:

Be sure not to overcrowd your pan as you cook scallops. If needed, you can always cook your scallops in batches. 

Serving Suggestions:

We love how easy it is to turn this into a full meal. We love this with a side of linguine or even mashed potatoes, a roasted veggie, and a salad. Change up the sauce and sides and you’ll never get bored eating the same thing twice!

Storage and Reheating Instructions: 

Scallops are best eaten fresh. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Reheat in a skillet over medium-low heat with a scant amount of oil until warmed through.
