Before achieving world domination with Genshin Impact, miHoYo achieved success with Honkai Impact, which in many ways can be seen as Genshin’s prototype as well as its sibling. So, when we heard news that miHoYo were working on a new Honkai game, Honkai: Star Rail, we had to investigate.
It turns out that as well as registering Honkai: Star Rail as a new game, miHoYo inadvertently uploaded the client to the App Store. It was swiftly removed, but not before the files were forensically rifled through by data miners. Now that they have completed their excavations, we can reveal that Honkai: Star Rail is intended as a turn-based open world mobile game. Not only that, but the files hint at the existence of another game, Honkai Galaxy.
Honkai Star Rail release date
Developer miHoYo is yet to acknowledge the existence of either game (assuming Honkai Galaxy is a game), let alone make an announcement. With fans being in the midst of celebrations for Honkai Impact’s fifth anniversary and Genshin Impact’s first, we are unlikely to hear more about Star Rail until miHoYo is good and ready. We’ll keep you posted.
