It’s that time of year again folks, the time of year when all the latest sports games start to announce official release dates. Whilst many of the market’s leading sports games have already started to release its main marketing material, the same can’t be said for NHL 22.
At the time of writing this, we still don’t have an official release date – however, if years gone by are anything to go off, we should be able to estimate exactly when it’ll drop.
On the plus side, there is a technical test coming soon which could see a few lucky individuals get their hands on the game before anyone else.
In the following article, we’ll be taking a closer look at everything surrounding the release date of NHL 22.

What Is The NHL 22 Release Date?
So, as we previously said, no official release date has been announced for NHL 22 at the time of writing this. However, if last year’s game is anything to go by, we should expect the latest NHL game to hit virtual shelves in the first week of October, 2021.
Historically, NHL games would release sometime in September – however, since the arrival of NHL 21, the date was moved to October. The same can probably be speculated for NHL 22, mainly because the closed beta test version is only rolling out to individuals at the end of August – not allowing for much time to fix bugs if there are any.
NHL 22 Closed Technical Test
Whilst news of NHL 22 has been quiet of late, EA broke the silence with the announcement of a closed technical test – where players get the chances to test the game, report bugs, and leave suggestions for potential game tweaks.
You can sign up for the NHL Beta (closed technical test) by heading over to the official beta page here.
If you do want to sign up to the Closed Beta, you’ll have to do so quickly – as only a select number of gamers will be able to join in the action. Respawn Entertainment will select the lucky recipients of the Beta by the end of August – allowing them to test the game before anyone else.
The ad also continues to remind us that the closed beta technical test is an unfinished version of the game – so we should expect some hilarious bugs during that particular testing period.
NHL 22 Platforms
Whilst NHL 21 gained good traction throughout the PC community, it looks like the latest version of the game won’t offer the same PC functionality. At the time of writing this, there has been nothing to suggest that NHL 22 will be on PC – with the Beta test version only being available for select consoles.
As of now, the following platforms will be available for NHL 22:
- PlayStation 5
- PlayStation 4
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Xbox One
