Riders Republic gameplay | WePC Gaming

Spiritual successor and kinda-sequel to 2016 Steep, Riders Republic is a massively multiplayer openworld extreme sports game. Set across an amalgam of US National Parks, the game features activities such as snowboarding, skiing, mounting biking and wingsuit flying, and features a number of careers and events in which players must not only be the fastest to win, but often prove themselves by pulling off spectacular stunts on the way to the finish line – or end up a pile of broken bones temporarily dashed on the rocks.

Riders Republic activities

Mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, wingsuit flying, and rocket wingsuit flying are the five main activities in Riders Republic. Aside from mounting biking, all the other sports featured in Steep (Rocket Wingsuits were added in the Steep DLC Extreme Pack). Noticeable by its absence is paragliding, which while adding a contemplative quality to Steep, was undeniably the game’s weakest activity.

Riders Republic multiplayer modes

The three main multiplayer modes revealed in the Riders Republic beta were Mass Races, Tricks Battles, and Free For All. Mass Races are multidisciplinary events with up to 50 players taking part and get pretty hectic. Tricks Battle meanwhile is an extreme sports take on a MOBA, with teams doing tricks and stunts in an arena with the aim to outscore the other side. Free For All is essentially a mountain biking deathmatch, using tricks as non-lethal takedowns.

Riders Republic progression

Progression in Ubisoft’s extreme sports playground Riders Republic is measured in a number of ways. The most obvious is with XP, aka experience points. You essentially receive XP for everything you do, from pulling off a trick in an event, to coming first in a race. As you collect more XP, you reach new levels, known as Career Levels, with Bucks being paid out which can be used to acquire near items of Gear.

As well as XP, you will collect Stars. When you complete an Event for the first time you will earn one Star, with three stars handed out for winning an Event. Stars are used to unlock activities, careers and sponsored competitions.

Riders Republic is developed by Ubisoft Annecy and published by Ubisoft for release on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
