Sigma 90mm f/2.8 and 24mm f/2 DG DN for L and E mount are now officially out

After leaked specs and Sigma’s official presentation, its two new prime lenses are now officially out. The Sigma 90mm f/2.8 and 24mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary lenses are ready for preorders, and they’re made for Sony and Leica shooters.

Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens

The Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens was made with portrait photographers in mind. It was made from 11 elements in 10 groups, including an aspherical element and five special low dispersion elements. It has a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh, a manual aperture, and a stepping AF motor for quick and quiet performance.

Here are the key specs:

  • Optics: 11 elements in 10 groups
  • Aperture: 9 diaphragm blades (circular)
  • Minimum focus distance: 0.5m
  • Max magnification 1: 5
  • Weather-sealed construction
  • Filter diameter: 55mm
  • Dimensions: φ64×59.7mm
  • Weight: 295g
  • Mounts: Leica L and Sony E

Sigma 24mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary lens

The Sigma 24mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary lens is, in my opinion, more versatile than the 90mm one. It’s ideal for landscapes, nature, street, interior, and architecture photography… And even creative wide-angle portraits, why not?

This lens is also a bit faster with the f/2 maximum aperture, so it’s better for working in low-light conditions. The lens is made from 13 elements in 11 groups, including two SLD glass elements, one FLD glass element, and two high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements. In English, these should help reduce chromatic aberrations and make the lens lighter in weight. Still, it’s heavier than the 90mm.

And just like the 90mm, the 24mm also features a stepping motor for quick and quiet AF performance. So, you can use it for both photos and videos.

Here are the key specs:

  • Optics: 13 elements in 11 groups
  • Aperture: 9 diaphragm blades (circular)
  • Minimum focus distance: 24.5cm
  • Max magnification: 1:6.7
  • Weather-sealed construction
  • Filter diameter: 62mm
  • Dimensions: φ70x72mm
  • Weight: 365g
  • Mounts: Leica L and Sony E

Both new Sigma lenses are now available for preorders, each in two mounts, and each priced at $639:
