Twitch leaks reveal that the xQc Twitch channel has earned $8.5m over the course of three years alongside the enormous Twitch leak. Felix Lengyel, known as xQc or xQcOW on twitch has been the subject of a huge data leak posted to 4chan in the form of a torrent file containing 128GB worth of data from the popular streaming service, and the section that has got most people talking is the data surrounding the earnings of content creators on the platform.
Earnings of various internet personalities like YouTubers and Streamers has always been a hotbed of speculation and blind assumption, however, it now seems there is finally some reliable figures out there concerning many of the most popular and infamous Twitch streamers, including xQc
Who is xQc?
xQc had his start streaming League of Legends but is known primarily for his professional Overwatch career, playing the tank role and gaining some notable success including making it all the way to the finals of the 2017 Overwatch World Cup before being defeated by the reigning champions, South Korea. He was named MVP of the event.
Since the suspension of 2020’s contenders season, he has streamed full time on Twitch and has accumulated over 9 million subscribers and ranks as the most popular on the platform by active subscribers.
Aside from his success in the world of competitive Overwatch and inarguable popularity on both Twitch and YouTube xQc has been the subject of some considerable controversy, including receiving a permanent ban from League of Legends, which is an impressive feat given that it’s only happened to 0.006% of players. That’s one way to make it as part of the 1%. However, if this revenue leak is to be believed xQc hasn’t had any trouble in this regard.
xQc has also been suspended and fined by professional Overwatch leagues for racial and homophobic remarks in addition to his various player account suspensions for publicly throwing matches, abusive behaviour, and misuse of the player report function.
xQc response to Twitch earnings leak
It appears that this leak has something behind it as xQc has taken to Twitter to shout at the official Twitch account
He has yet to confirm or deny the $8.5m figure, or even directly publicly comment on it.
If the leak is accurate it can be assumed that his earnings are far higher than $8.5m as the data only includes his cumulative payout from twitch since 2019. As with real-world athletes, E-sports professionals make money from a wide variety of sources, including sponsorships and merchandising.
xQc is currently sponsored by energy drink company, G Fuel, and given his extensive following and proven track record of popularity his going rate for sponsorships is sure to be among the highest for this industry. His line of merchandise is sure to bolster the earnings figure as well, We can’t find any data for sales numbers but assuming even a small percentage of his followers have bought something, It’s going to amount to a not-insignificant amount
xQc Twitch Earnings Leak
The recent Twitch leak has released a huge amount of data from the popular streaming service, including users personal data and even chat histories. The most interesting part of the leak is the earnings of the top users on the site, with CQC’s earnings coming in 2nd, just after the venerable CriticalRole with a stunning $8.5m earned from 2019 up to now, not including additional revenue streams.
This amounts to around $2.8m a year for the 25-year-old Canadian gamer, with him earning the rough equivalent of a $230,000 monthly salary. Not bad for playing video games, I’m generous enough to do that for free.
